Sister Cities working together...
While most of the 2800 members of the national Main Street Association join as individual municipalities, in 2007, a group of business and community leaders spearheaded the idea of a more cooperative effort on the Hancock County coast. The Bay-Waveland Main Street Association is the result of this innovative approach. As partners, the two cities are working with a team of national and state revitalization experts to improve prosperity and quality of life.
Since the traditional centers of Bay St. Louis and Waveland are within a few miles of each other, it made sense to combine our efforts. We're working to connect the communities by connecting the two central downtown districts - on Main Street in Bay St. Louis and Coleman Avenue in Waveland.
